Bashir meets Jack at the door and gestures for him to come in, sit down, be comfortable, and so on. He already has his tricorder out on the coffee table, but will only take the vial if Jack seems comfortable letting him hold it.
"Ah." Well then, he's going to be even more careful with it. A poison wouldn't be half as troubling as an overdose of aphrodisiac.
He scans the little bottle and then it's going to take a little while for the tricorder to sort out what it is that's in the vial.
"And, from what I can tell, it should be fairly similar. There are some side-effects that I can't quite place, so I'd be careful with it, and reduce the dosage for a human." He scribbles on a bit of paper, sketching out something or other. "It might take a little while, but I should be able to come up with an emergency antagonist."
Jack waits as patiently as he can, but he keeps the vial where he can see it at all times, and keeps himself where he can see the vial. It isn't just a very strong drug, after all -- it's a precious relic of home. And any incidents would be terribly unfortunate both for their dignity, and for him, emotionally.
"Awright." He's taking this all very seriously, you can tell. He furrows his brows, and doesn't even try to pretend he knows what Julian means. Clarity of meaning is more important.
"You're not an idiot. I just tend toward the overly technical." Bashir carefully puts the vial down on the table towards Jack, and then reviews his notes.
"What I mean is, I think that I ought to be able to create something that should serve to neutralize your oil in humans." If the trip goes awry, there's an emergency cord. "It should be safe, but I can't be entirely sure what other effects it might have until it's used. "
"Let's say both," Jack says with a flippant grin, taking the vial and hiding it away.
"An... antidote?" he hazards, raising his brows. If so... "If I know it's safe, at least that far, an' I got an antidote, I think I can get folk to volunteer, with helping me figure out the rest."
"It should take me a week or so to brew up something that ought to work, and then ...well, when you're ready to try it, I suppose I ought to be the first test subject." It's only fair, after all.
He's willing to briefly get whammied, if he can clear it from his system.
"You sure?" It's not -- huh. He turns it over in his mind. "It hits hard. But if you show me how to use the antidote, it should be awright. We might want someone t'call, if it doesn't work."
"I can ask Lin or Crais to be available." Bashir mulls it over, he didn't just offer because he feels that it's his responsibility but because it's practical.
"I've more control than a typical human over my breathing, pulse, and things like that. It should give us both a bit more safety."
Jack 'huh's and nods. "That makes sense, then. If you're sure, yeah." It does seem like the most reasonable approach. No risk to anyone uninformed. After that, if Bashir comes out alright, Jack can feel more comfortable with the idea of actually using the redseed.
"I like Crais," Crais makes sense, Crais gets things that others don't, "but I don' think I know Lin."

"What does it do for your people?"

And once it's out of his hands, he's watching it closely the whole time.
"It's an aphrodisiac." He stumbles over the word. "A half drop will make someone wanting for hours."

"Can you say that simpler? For us idiots?"
