"Ahh, networking," Gerard gives a little nod, saying the word like it's a particularly difficult task. It is for him - he always flounders when he starts caring whether someone likes him, never sure what to do with himself. It's easier if he starts off not caring, then he can become familiar with someone before he starts wondering what he's supposed to do with his hands or what to say.
